White House Denies Reports of Tulsi Gabbard Firing, Calls Allegations ‘Totally Fake News’

The White House has stated that reports claiming President Donald Trump is considering firing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard are “fake news.”

In a statement on X, the White House communications director Steven Cheung asserted: “President Trump has total confidence in @DNIGabbard, and any insinuation otherwise is totally fake news.”

The administration also highlighted that Trump has assembled “the most talented and impactful Cabinet ever,” which they claim has “collectively delivered historic victories on behalf of the American people.”

Reports indicate President Trump recently privately asked several Cabinet members whether he should replace Gabbard following her testimony before Congress last month. During that hearing, Gabbard declined to condemn Joe Kent, who resigned after arguing that Iran did not pose an imminent threat to U.S. security.

Trump previously criticized Kent’s departure, calling it “a good thing” and asserting that Iran’s threat was clear to U.S. leaders and allies.

On Thursday, Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi. This move follows months of scrutiny over the Justice Department’s handling of files related to the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation and unsuccessful efforts to secure criminal cases against his adversaries. Last month, Trump also reassigned Kristi Noem from Department of Homeland Security secretary to a lesser role as an envoy within the State Department.

According to people familiar with the matter, Trump began privately discussing Bondi’s removal as his frustrations grew. In a statement, Trump called Bondi “a Great American Patriot” and a “loyal friend,” adding that she would transition to a new role in the private sector soon.
