Fetterman Urges Democrats to Back Iran Strikes, Accuses Party of Betraying Workers

Senator John Fetterman, a Democratic senator from Pennsylvania, stated on Sunday that his party should support U.S. military strikes against Iran if they believe Tehran cannot be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, referencing former Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 assertion that Iran is the United States’ “greatest adversary” as he widened his criticism of Democratic leadership.

In an interview with John Catsimatidis on WABC, Fetterman said he was the only senator in the Senate who supported the mission dubbed Epic Fury and urged Democrats to back what he called an operation that has damaged Iran’s nuclear program.

“Kamala Harris identified Iran as her top international concern when she ran for president,” Fetterman said. “Now, with the Trump administration using Epic Fury to effectively dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities, why can’t we agree this is a positive step for global security?”

Fetterman argued that any rise in oil prices would be justified if Iran’s nuclear threat were reduced.

“Given that the administration has achieved the outcome we all agreed upon, why shouldn’t we support it?” he asked.

The senator also criticized Democrats over Department of Homeland Security funding. “Coast Guard personnel and TSA agents deserve to be paid,” Fetterman said. “This shutdown has had no impact on ICE operations, so why punish workers who keep our nation secure?”

Fetterman noted that on February 13, every Senate Democrat except himself opposed a DHS funding bill, which he described as the only Democratic vote against the shutdown.

He added: “We used to be the party that refused to do these things. I thought we were the party of union workers. Now we are constantly voting to prevent them from being paid for their work.”
