President Donald Trump launched two lengthy posts on Truth Social, denouncing Supreme Court justices for “disrespecting the Presidents who nominate them to the highest position in the Land” and accusing U.S. District Judge James Boasberg of partisan bias with “the highest level of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).”
In his first post, Trump criticized the high court’s recent 6–3 ruling that struck down key tariffs he imposed using emergency economic powers under a 1977 national emergency law. The decision held that the tariffs exceeded presidential authority and that Congress—not the president—holds constitutional power to impose import taxes. Trump stated: “The Court knew where I stood, how badly I wanted this Victory for our Country, and instead decided to, potentially, give away Trillions of Dollars to Countries and Companies who have been taking advantage of the United States for decades.”
Trump noted that while the ruling curtailed his specific tariff authority, the court acknowledged he retains other legal avenues to impose tariffs. He added that the administration has already begun exploring new trade actions and investigations to restore tariff protections. Trump praised Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Brett Kavanaugh for their dissenting opinions as “Wisdom and Courage,” while accusing the liberal bloc of voting together politically.
In a second post, Trump focused on U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, whom he described as suffering from “the highest level of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).” The judge had recently blocked Justice Department subpoenas in an investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s testimony about the Fed’s Washington headquarters renovation. Trump alleged that Powell’s project became a costly “money pit” and should have been investigated, but Boasberg’s ruling reflected broader political bias: “What Boasberg has done on the ‘Too Late’ Powell case… has little to do with the Law, and everything to do with Politics.”
Trump accused Boasberg of targeting him and his allies for years and vowed to continue fighting to ensure American interests are protected.
