Murphy Wins New Jersey GOP Senate Primary, Sets November Challenge Against Booker

Justin Murphy won the New Jersey Republican Senate primary Tuesday and will challenge incumbent Cory Booker, a Democrat, in the November election.

Murphy, who previously served in the Navy, led Richard Tabor 33% to 30% and Alex Zdan 27%, with 87% of the vote counted.

Booker, who was first elected in 2013, is seeking a third term and is the heavy favorite in the blue state.

The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper, lists the race as “Solid Democrat.”
