European Parliament member Dominik Tarczynski stated on Thursday that Poland’s border policies have helped make it the safest country in Europe.
Tarczynski said Poland refused to accept immigrants beginning in 2015 and rejected efforts by other countries to send them there. “We said no, zero, not even one will come to Poland,” he said. “We did not let them in.”
He noted that leaders in Germany and elsewhere initially supported bringing immigrants into Europe for cheap labor but later tried to shift the burden to Poland.
Tarczynski added that Poland built a border wall after people attempted to enter the country illegally, citing President Donald Trump as inspiration for the move. “We spent $2.5 billion on the wall,” he said. “And I must say, Mr. Trump was a great inspiration.”
He acknowledged that the wall did not stop all attempted crossings, stating individuals tried to destroy it and cross anyway.
Tarczynski also mentioned Poland changed its laws following an incident where an immigrant killed a Polish soldier, enabling border troops to use live ammunition. “Our soldiers, they have a right to shoot,” he said. “We do not talk. We do. We take action.”
According to Tarczynski, Poland’s approach has produced clear results. “The result is my motto: Be like Poland,” he stated.
He described Poland as the safest and cleanest place in Europe, boasting the lowest unemployment rate and one of the strongest rates of economic growth since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tarczynski expressed pride in Poland’s transformation after decades of communism, calling it a “pearl of Europe” and the last stronghold of normality in Europe. He urged other European nations, including France and Britain, to adopt Poland’s example: “Be brave,” he said. “Look at Poland and be like Poland.”
