Country music icon Dolly Parton has confirmed that her life story will be adapted into a Broadway musical titled “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” following recent health disclosures and a temporary hiatus from live performances.
The production will feature many of Parton’s signature songs, including “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “9 to 5,” alongside original compositions crafted specifically for the stage.
In her announcement, Parton emphasized that the musical will be told from her own perspective, highlighting the experiences, challenges, and triumphs that have defined her career.
The project comes after Parton revealed she has been managing health issues that required postponing scheduled live shows. She stated recently that she needs additional time to focus on recovery and is not yet prepared to return to the stage for upcoming performances.
Despite stepping back from touring, Parton reassured fans that she remains actively engaged in new creative projects and continues working on her career.
