Senate leader Tommy Tuberville, a Republican running for governor of Alabama, stated Wednesday that the Democratic Party has lost its way.
Tuberville said the Democrats have become the “terrorist socialist party,” noting recent scandals involving Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner and New Jersey congressional nominee Adam Hamawy.
Hamawy has come under fire over his past connection to Omar Abdel-Rahman, the blind Egyptian cleric convicted for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
Tuberville questioned: “Who represents the true Democrats in this country that actually love the country? They have no representation anymore here.”
“They got a Nazi and they got a terrorist running in New Jersey, and they’ve got an atheist running in Texas,” he said.
“They’ve lost their way,” Tuberville added. “This is the terrorist socialist party.”
“The Democrats have gone so far left that nobody in the country recognizes them.”
“Now, they’re trying to take the country over,” he stated.
Tuberville emphasized his commitment to preventing this outcome: “We’re going to stand up. Hopefully we can get the Save America Act.”
“Somebody needs to get their head out of the sand and do something while we have control, because if we don’t do it now, we’ll never have control again,” Tuberville said.
“These people are trying to control the country with their one or two votes, because why? They do not respect Donald Trump,” he added. “But it’s like pulling teeth up here to get anything done. It’s a crying shame.”
