Former Interior Secretary Deb Haaland has secured victory in the New Mexico Democratic primary for governor.

Haaland, who served under former President Joe Biden, leads Sam Bregman — the father of baseball slugger Alex Bregman — by a margin of 72% to 28%, with 63% of votes counted.

In the Republican primary race, Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull leads Doug Turner by 48% to 37%, and Duke Rodriguez trails in third place.

New Mexico’s current governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, is term-limited and cannot seek re-election.

The Cook Political Report lists the gubernatorial race as likely Democratic.
