Two U.S. Soldiers Die in Jordan as Iran Escalates Attacks, Trump Praises Retired General

President Donald Trump praised retired Army lieutenant colonel James Carafano on Monday, who stated America’s position in the Middle East is the strongest it has been since World War II.

In his statement, Trump called Carafano’s remarks “great words of wisdom,” saying: “Thank you James!”

Trump’s comments came as U.S. military operations against Iranian infrastructure have continued for nine consecutive days, following a week of escalating tensions with Iran. Iran has also launched missiles and drones at U.S. assets across the Middle East, resulting in two American soldiers being killed during an attack on Saturday at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

The retired general, a senior counselor at the Heritage Foundation, said: “Our position in the Region is the strongest that it’s been since the end of World War II. We have been dealing with this from [former President] Jimmy Carter. Since the days of Jimmy Carter, we have never had a position in the Region this strong to create a better future for the Region and then, that means a safer America, and I think that this is the price we are paying — Trust me, it’s going to pay off for decades!”
