President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday for a medical and dental examination, marking his third such appointment at the facility in the past 13 months. The White House has characterized the visit as part of the president’s routine preventive healthcare, though media scrutiny of Trump’s health has intensified ahead of his 80th birthday next month.
Trump has consistently dismissed concerns about his physical fitness while highlighting results from cognitive assessments and annual physicals conducted by White House physicians. The president recently stated, “I feel literally the same as I did 50 years ago,” when addressing questions about his age. This upcoming visit represents Trump’s fourth publicly disclosed medical evaluation since returning to the presidency in October 2025.
White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella has repeatedly described Trump as being in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to serve as commander in chief, noting strong performance in cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical domains following his last examination. Supporters emphasize Trump’s packed travel schedule, frequent public appearances, and regular golf outings as evidence of sustained stamina, particularly when compared with former President Joe Biden.
Despite these assertions, some independent physicians have raised concerns about visible bruising on Trump’s hands, occasional swelling in his legs, and reports that he has appeared fatigued during public events. The White House attributes the hand injuries to frequent handshaking combined with daily aspirin use for cardiac prevention. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt previously characterized online rumors about undisclosed hospital visits as a “clearly organized misinformation campaign peddled by left-wing accounts.” Trump’s Tuesday visit is also expected to include meetings with military personnel.
