Weezer Bassist’s Wife Files for Divorce Amid Shooting Incident

LOS ANGELES, Dec 3 (AP) — Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, has filed for divorce eight months after she was arrested in connection with a shooting involving Los Angeles police officers.

The filing submitted Tuesday cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for dissolution. The couple married in 2005 and are parents to two adopted children, aged 17 and 13. Shriner is currently Weezer’s bassist.

Records indicate Lauren, an author who publishes under her maiden name Jillian Lauren, is seeking joint legal and physical custody while asking the court to bar Shriner from receiving spousal support.

The divorce follows a May incident in which she was wounded during an encounter with LAPD officers. The band Weezer had been searched following reports of suspects fleeing the scene after a hit-and-run near their Eagle Rock neighborhood that day.

Authorities reported Lauren discharged her weapon toward officers while they were conducting the search, ignoring commands to drop it. She was subsequently shot in the shoulder before surrendering at her home.

She posted a $1 million bond and pleaded not guilty to two felony charges: willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner and assault with a semiautomatic weapon.

A judge determined she is eligible for mental health diversion, potentially leading to charge dismissal upon completion. The program requires sobriety, weekly therapy, random drug tests, and mandatory AA meetings.

During this period, Lauren cannot possess firearms or knives.
