Rep. Randy Fine, a Florida Republican, criticized liberal immigration policies on Sunday, accusing them of fostering government dependency and financial strain. Speaking to Newsmax’s “Sunday Agenda,” Fine argued that the U.S. is funding benefits for immigrants—both legal and undocumented—through borrowed money rather than taxes. “We don’t have a choice,” he said, adding, “liberals aren’t even taxing people to do it.”
Fine highlighted the $1 trillion deficit as evidence of fiscal mismanagement, emphasizing that “it’s not just illegals getting these benefits, it’s also legal immigrants.” He condemned what he called a shift away from self-reliance, stating, “If you want to come to America for freedom and opportunity, that’s a discussion I’m willing to have. But if you’re coming here… to get free stuff, you ought to stay home.”
He recounted his family’s immigration experience, noting that his parents required a guarantor to avoid becoming a financial burden on the government. “My aunt’s husband had to sign on the dotted line,” Fine said. “If they were a burden, he had to support them.” He framed liberal policies as creating “bad policy—lots of boo hoo hoo” and warned against fostering lifelong dependency on government aid.
Fine also addressed antisemitism, calling conservative commentator Tucker Carlson “the most dangerous antisemite in America” for his recent remarks with Nick Fuentes. He announced his office would sever ties with the Heritage Foundation after its leadership refused to condemn Carlson. “I’m not willing to let that happen to the Republican Party,” he said, urging others to “call evil by its name.”
Fine alleged some antisemitic rhetoric on the right stems from financial motives and personal resentment, citing Carlson’s apparent shift in stance as evidence of “paid” influence. He added, “When your life isn’t the way you want it to be, you look for someone to blame, and the Jews are an easy target.”
