Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday praised Chile’s conservative presidential candidate, Jose Antonio Kast, as a landslide victor.
In a statement, Rubio said: “The United States congratulates President-Elect Jose Antonio Kast of Chile on his electoral victory.”
He also noted that under Kast’s leadership, Chile would advance shared priorities including strengthening public security, ending illegal immigration, and revitalizing commercial relations.
“The United States looks forward to working closely with his administration to deepen our partnership and promote shared prosperity in our hemisphere,” Rubio added.
