Rep. Mark Harris, R-N.C., said the focus in Washington must stay on advancing President Donald Trump’s agenda and addressing major policy priorities, emphasizing there are too many important things to deal with. He noted the Jan. 30 continuing resolution as a key deadline, urging Congress to move forward with Trump’s America First agenda while focusing on affordability and items important to the American people. Harris highlighted the significance of Jeffrey Epstein’s exchange texts with Rep. Stacey Plaskett during a 2019 congressional hearing, which influenced her questions to Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney. He stated that this was a mind-blowing turn of events, noting Epstein was feeding questions in the hearing. Harris also emphasized the need for accountability, asking where the prosecutions are and urging Congress to ensure the handling of the discharge petition regarding the Epstein Files Transparency Act does not jeopardize ongoing investigations. Turning to the federal crackdown on criminal illegal immigrants in Charlotte, North Carolina, Harris criticized Democrats’ misplaced priorities, stating Border Patrol agents and ICE agents should be treated with respect as law enforcement. He noted arrests in Charlotte have climbed to about 200 in two days, emphasizing the severity of criminal activity involved, with people wanted for murder, aggravated assault, and other crimes being taken off the streets. Harris stated the administration is cleaning up the mess from the Biden administration, aiming to make cities and streets safer.
