Harris Book Sparks Sharp Reactions From Democratic Governor

A new profile in The Atlantic highlights sharp criticism leveled by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro against Vice President Kamala Harris regarding her book “107 Days,” which details her experiences during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Shapiro expressed anger at accounts suggesting he felt he had already secured his position as her running mate. According to excerpts read aloud, Harris described him as feeling this way and demanding a seat in every room for decision-making, while also noting his interest in featuring Pennsylvania artists in the vice-presidential residence.

In response, Shapiro reportedly voiced disbelief and indignation. When asked about a description related to an art piece, he questioned: “She wrote that in her book? That’s complete and utter bulls.” He further stated: “I can tell you that her accounts are just blatant lies,” adding later, “Wouldn’t you ask questions if someone was talking to you about forming a partnership and working together?”

Shapiro also implied his frustration extended beyond the book itself. “She’s just trying to sell books and cover her a,” he reportedly said before noting such language might not be suitable for print.

This exchange occurred during a period of reported tension between Harris and Shapiro, who felt underappreciated by fellow Democrats during the campaign process. The Atlantic noted that during their meeting, Shapiro admitted he wound up interviewing Harris himself.

The governor’s overall assessment of her book was starkly negative, suggesting his view of Harris soured significantly over time: “I shouldn’t say ‘cover her a.’ I think that’s not appropriate.”
