Freida Parton, sister of country music icon Dolly Parton, has appealed to fans for prayers following her sibling’s recent announcement to delay a Las Vegas residency due to health concerns. The 79-year-old singer postponed the event to 2026, citing ongoing medical challenges.
In a Facebook post, Freida expressed her concern, stating, “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately.” She emphasized her belief in prayer’s power, urging fans to join in support: “I truly believe in the power of prayer and have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.” Freida added, “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine.”
The statement was later clarified by Freida, who assured fans the message was not meant to cause alarm. “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious,” she said. “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer.”
Dolly Parton confirmed the residency delay in a September Instagram post, explaining, “I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.” She humorously referenced the need for a “100,000-mile check-up” but stressed the decision was necessary to ensure a high-quality production. “I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see… the show that you deserve to see,” she said.
Parton also mentioned she would continue working from her Nashville home while recovering, adding, “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.” She concluded with optimism: “I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
The update follows the recent passing of Dolly’s husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who died in March after nearly 60 years of marriage.
