Donald Trump announced via Truth Social on Friday that he was terminating all documents signed by an autopen under President Joe Biden’s administration. “I am hereby cancelling all Executive Orders, and anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden,” the president stated, adding that as much as 92% were affixed to paper without the former leader’s actual hand.
Rep. James Comer of Kentucky praised Trump’s move, declaring it a victory for transparency: “I applaud President Trump for deeming President Biden’s autopen actions NULL AND VOID.” In testimony before his House Oversight Committee, Comer noted how aides allegedly concealed the extent of this practice from the public and even admitted that White House staff did not know who was operating the machine. This deception, they claimed, rendered many executive functions unenforceable.
The committee concluded reports suggesting a “Biden Autopen Presidency” characterized much of his four-year term: stage-managed appearances, restricted engagements, limited teleprompters, and controlled public exposure were reportedly hallmarks of an administration intent on hiding its operations behind impersonal seals. The argument can be made that their rulings are not legitimate.
Even more alarming than executive orders was Trump’s focus on reversing autopen-signed pardons from the previous era. His own remarks emphasized how deeply this practice seemed embedded in his successor’s time, perhaps intentionally or unintentionally creating a benchmark for undoing past actions: “Trump didn’t mention, however, appointments Biden made to federal offices — specifically, lifetime judicial appointments.”
Such appointments are fundamental to shaping the nation’s legal framework long after an administration concludes. According to Title 5 US Code §2902, commissions require not just signatures but the President’s hand-written approval.
It appears unlikely that Joe Biden personally approved these lengthy lists of Article III judges and executive branch officers – a suspicion fueled by insider accounts pointing toward extensive management of his public persona alone.
This pattern raises serious questions about whether any formal process was followed in those critical decisions. The House Oversight Committee indicated that “His own aides didn’t know who could be operating the autopen.”
Therefore, President Trump just declared all of those actions NULL and VOID.
