Conservatives Confront Surge in Antisemitic Rhetoric from Right-Wing Pundits

As the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) convenes in Las Vegas this week, conservative figures are addressing a growing concern over antisemitism within right-wing political discourse. The Wall Street Journal highlighted that Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance, must confront the rising influence of anti-Israel sentiment from prominent commentators like Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, as well as certain members of Congress.

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., criticized what he termed “antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric” among some colleagues, stating that “anti-Zionism is antisemitism.” The New York 17th District representative emphasized the U.S.-Israel relationship’s foundation in shared democratic values, arguing that criticism of Israel often stems from prejudice. “The obsession with one Jewish state while ignoring Arab or Christian countries is bizarre,” he said during an appearance on “Saturday Agenda.”

Lawler reaffirmed his unwavering support for Israel and the Jewish people, condemning antisemitism across ideological lines, including figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene and progressive lawmakers such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. His remarks underscored a broader struggle within conservative circles to address divisive rhetoric while upholding alliances with Israel.
