Taylor Swift has addressed criticism surrounding her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” stating she accepts backlash as part of the creative process. Speaking on Apple Music’s “The Zane Lowe Show,” Swift emphasized that strong opinions reflect her work sparking conversation. “If it’s the first week of my album release and you’re saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping,” she said. She acknowledged differing perspectives on art, asserting, “I’m not the art police.” Swift added, “Art, I have a lot of respect for people’s subjective opinions… what our goal is as entertainers is to be a mirror.”

The album drew mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its upbeat sound and others calling lyrics shallow. Swift noted that listener reactions often mirror their personal experiences. “An album is a really wild way to look at yourself,” she told Lowe. “What you’re going through in your life affects whether you relate to the music I’m putting out.” She focused on long-term legacy, stating, “We’re doing this thing for keeps… I have such an eye on legacy when I’m making my music.”

Swift also dismissed rumors of retiring after releasing the album and marrying NFL player Travis Kelce. Calling the speculation “shockingly offensive,” she said, “It’s not why people get married… I love the person I am with because he loves what I do.” She highlighted Kelce’s support, adding, “He’s so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do connects.”
