Senate Majority Leader John Thune has secured 55 votes to end the shutdown but remains five short of a majority under regular order. Senator Rand Paul has opposed reopening the government, marking the longest full government shutdown in U.S. history. Trump reiterated his call for Republicans to “play their TRUMP CARD” and eliminate the filibuster, warning that failure to act would lead to future losses.
