Jack Osbourne has shared intimate reflections on his father’s final days following the death of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, detailing the family’s emotional journey. In an interview aired Monday on “Good Morning America,” Jack described the unexpected outpouring of support after his father’s passing.
Ozzy Osbourne, 76, died on July 22 from complications including cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction, as listed on a London death certificate filed by his daughter Aimee Osbourne. Jack revealed that his mother, Sharon Osbourne, has been grappling with profound grief since the loss.
“She’s OK, but she’s not OK,” Jack said, reflecting on his mother’s resilience. He acknowledged the universal fear of losing parents, noting, “It’s just a part of being human.” The interview also touched on Ozzy’s memoir, Last Rites, which chronicled his career and struggles with addiction.
Connelly quoted a passage from the book: “If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I had done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy.” Jack responded, “There’s definitely some truth to that. But here’s the thing, he was clean and sober at the end. And he was still Ozzy.”
Jack described reading the memoir’s conclusion as particularly difficult, highlighting his father’s final happiness. Despite years of health challenges, including surgeries after a 2019 neck injury, Ozzy continued performing until shortly before his death. Seventeen days prior to his passing, he attended a farewell concert in Birmingham, England, where Jack recalled a heartfelt goodbye.
Asked how he hopes his father will be remembered, Jack emphasized Ozzy’s love for family and humor. Zoe Papadakis is a Newsmax writer based in South Africa with two decades of experience specializing in media and entertainment.
