An FBI agent who reportedly sought to obstruct President Donald Trump’s election integrity efforts after the 2020 election has been dismissed by FBI Director Kash Patel, according to two sources who spoke to MSNBC.
Aaron Tapp, a 22-year veteran of the bureau specializing in fraud and financial and cybercrimes, was identified in recently released Senate Republican documents tied to “Arctic Frost,” an FBI investigation into actions by Trump and his team following the 2020 election. The probe reportedly targeted 45 individuals closely linked to Trump, including figures such as former adviser Steve Bannon, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., among others.
The documents revealed that investigators requested $16,000 in travel funds for over 40 interviews and issued 197 subpoenas targeting members of Congress and other figures connected to the probe. Tapp’s dismissal followed the release of these materials, which also highlighted scrutiny of Trump’s political circle.
The Oversight Project, a prominent X account, has focused on individuals involved in Arctic Frost, including Tapp. Sam Barron, the article’s author, has covered politics, crime, and business for nearly two decades.
