President Donald Trump condemned CNN on Sunday for claiming his proposed agreement with Iran fails to address Tehran’s nuclear program, labeling the coverage as false and misleading.
In a Truth Social post, Trump asserted that the framework under discussion explicitly prohibits Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and places significant emphasis on nuclear issues.
“Fake News CNN said today, routinely, that my Iran Nuclear Deal doesn’t talk about nuclear weapons when actually it states very clearly that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” Trump wrote. “It then goes on to discuss various other aspects of nuclear security in detail.”
“In fact, that’s what most of the agreement is about.”
Trump also criticized CNN and other media outlets as low-rated disasters, stating they would not improve even with new ownership.
The president’s remarks followed reports that the administration had presented Iran with a revised and more stringent framework for potential negotiations.
Trump has consistently emphasized that any agreement must permanently prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons while also restoring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical global shipping route Iran has blockaded during recent conflicts.
During an interview with Lara Trump on Fox News Saturday, the president stated that Iran had already agreed in principle to his central demand.
“The one guarantee I have to have is no nuclear weapons,” Trump said. “They’ve agreed to that, and it was very interesting.”
