First lady Melania Trump outlined her top accomplishments for 2025 in a recent post, beginning with the passage of the Take It Down Act.
The legislation, signed during a White House ceremony in mid-May, targets federal penalties for online distribution of nonconsensual intimate imagery—commonly known as revenge porn. The law makes it a federal crime to knowingly publish or threaten publication of such images without consent, including AI-generated deepfakes. It also requires websites and social media platforms to remove the material within 48 hours upon victim request and to delete duplicate content.
Melania Trump played an active role in advancing the bill through Congress. In March, she visited Capitol Hill for her first public appearance since resuming duties as first lady to meet with House members and advocate for the law’s passage following Senate approval. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt noted the first lady’s contributions in securing the legislation, describing it as an important step to protect victims from online exploitation.
The Take It Down Act was sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. It passed the House with a vote of 409 to 2 and cleared the Senate by unanimous consent.
Melania Trump also attended a Capitol Hill roundtable with lawmakers and young women whose explicit images were shared online without consent. She described their experiences as “heartbreaking” and later invited one victim to attend the president’s address before Congress. After House passage, she emphasized that the vote reflected a unified effort to protect children’s dignity, privacy, and safety.
Her work aligns with the Be Best initiative she launched during the president’s first term, which focuses on children’s well-being, online behavior, and public health.
The post also highlighted additional achievements:
– Championed Executive Order (Fostering the Future for American Children & Families)
– Implemented National K-12 AI Program (Presidential AI Challenge)
– Hosted Task Force on AI Education (White House)
– Secured $25 Million for Foster Care Housing (HUD)
– Reunited Ukrainian and Russian Children and Families (World Peace)
The final item listed was the launch of a global coalition at the United Nations General Assembly named Fostering the Future Together, an international partnership dedicated to child welfare, education, and family support initiatives across multiple countries.
A film documenting the first lady and president preparing for their second term in the White House is set for release next month.
