Burchett Demands House Translate Trump’s Executive Orders into Law Before New Year Ends

House Republicans must prioritize President Trump’s campaign promises and executive actions to address border security and economic recovery, according to Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), who made remarks on Newsmax Thursday following the House’s final votes of the year.

Burchett emphasized that voters delivered a narrow House majority specifically to enact the president’s nationwide mandate rather than maintain long-standing congressional priorities. He urged Republicans to translate Trump’s campaign promises and executive orders into law, highlighting border security, economic recovery, and accountability in Washington as critical areas for focus.

“Clearly doing what the president ran on and not what Congress ran on,” Burchett stated. “We had about a three-person majority for good reason. President Trump ran nationwide. And he really just kicked butt across the board.”

The Tennessee Republican also dismissed concerns over bipartisan healthcare proposals, noting that legislation should be “fixed” in a manner that benefits taxpayers rather than those who do not work. He compared congressional dynamics to “junior high school kids with a big checkbook,” reflecting his frustration with legislative processes.

Burchett further stressed the importance of directing tariff revenue directly to taxpayers to reduce individual tax burdens while supporting economic growth, contrasting it with pandemic-era measures that distributed checks broadly.

The remarks followed President Trump’s Wednesday address, during which he highlighted progress on inflation and border enforcement alongside pledges for additional tax relief and economic stimulus.
