New Jersey Governor Candidate Endorses Trump with A Grade Amid Debate Clash

Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican nominee for governor in New Jersey, praised President Donald Trump’s policies during a debate against Democratic opponent Rep. Mikie Sherrill, giving him an “A” grade. Ciattarelli faced questions about his support for Trump at the event, where he asserted, “I think he’s right about everything he’s doing.” Sherrill countered by assigning Trump an “F,” highlighting rising costs for New Jersey residents.

Ciattarelli, who previously ran for governor in 2021, emphasized his focus on addressing state crises and securing the border, vowing that New Jersey would not become a sanctuary state under future administrations. He avoided labeling himself as part of the MAGA movement, instead referencing the “New Jersey movement.” Sherrill challenged Ciattarelli’s alignment with Trump, noting the president had described him as “100% MAGA” and criticized his loyalty to Trump over New Jersey residents.

The candidates also clashed over government funding, with Ciattarelli criticizing Sherrill for opposing a spending bill during Trump’s presidency, while Sherrill urged Republicans to prioritize reopening the government given their control of Congress and the White House.
