U.S. Soldier Dies in Iranian Strike at Prince Sultan Air Base

On Monday, the War Department identified a U.S. Army soldier who died Sunday from wounds sustained on March 1, 2026, during Iran’s retaliatory strikes.

Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, of Glendale, Ky., died of his injuries on March 8, 2026, at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Early reports following the Iranian attacks had no indication of casualties.

The department stated that Pennington was assigned to the 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, Fort Carson, Colo., and the incident is under investigation.
