Actor Accused of Domestic Violence Pleads Guilty, Faces Probation

Eugene authorities took Zachary Ty Bryan into custody on November 29, after allegations of violating probation stemming from a prior domestic violence conviction were filed against him. The actor, known for his role in “Home Improvement,” was booked into Lane County Jail and remains held without bail.

Bryan’s legal history includes previous incidents that led to charges dating back several years. In January, police charged Bryan with second-degree domestic violence after an incident involving Cartwright resulted in her reporting the assault. According to reports from at the time of that filing, Cartwright was present during the alleged event and stated she was assaulted.

Records indicate that Bryan pleaded guilty to fourth-degree felony assault as well as other charges including third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment earlier in 2024. As part of a negotiated agreement for those violations, he received seven days in jail and three years of supervised probation.

The current allegations against Bryan are tied to his domestic violence history, with the possibility that Cartwright faces additional consequences or restrictions related to their shared custody agreements regarding the children involved in these incidents.

His legal troubles also include multiple DUI arrests between 2019-2023.
