Rep. Rich McCormick: U.S. Pressure Has Left Iran “On the Verge of Surrender”

Republican Representative Rich McCormick of Georgia stated Thursday that half-measures have never worked in warfare, praising what he described as decisive U.S. military and economic actions against Iran.

McCormick, who serves on the House Armed Services and Oversight committees, claimed Iran has been “soundly defeated,” with its economy “crumbled” and military capacity depleted by 95%. He emphasized that the United States has lost no personnel in Iran while asserting Tehran faces imminent collapse, stating the regime’s economy could crumble within two to three weeks.

In response to reports of potential easing of restrictions by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, McCormick dismissed such moves as signs of weakness. “They have no choice but to humble themselves and come to the table,” he said, adding that Iran is now on the verge of surrender with no viable options left.

McCormick warned against trusting any future agreements with Iran, calling it an “evil regime” that threatens lives. He compared the situation to past conflicts, stating sustained pressure is necessary to prevent Iran from rebuilding capabilities and described the administration’s approach as a “brilliant move” designed to cripple the nation without disrupting the broader Persian Gulf region.

“We are cutting off Iran, not the rest of the Persian Gulf,” McCormick explained.
