April 15 Marks First Joyful Tax Day Since 1982 Amid Record Rebates

White House senior adviser Peter Navarro said on Wednesday that for the first time since 1982, Americans had a good April 15.

“Today was Christmas. It felt like Christmas,” Navarro stated.

This marks the first April 15 since 1982—the year after former President Ronald Reagan enacted his tax cut—that the American people actually enjoyed Tax Day. Navarro credited the “Big Beautiful Bill Act” with delivering the largest rebate and refund in U.S. history for taxpayers. He noted that when the bill passed, it faced criticism from legacy media and the Democratic Party, but the current experience shows Americans are better off under President Donald Trump and worse off under Democrats.

The legislation helps seniors by eliminating taxes on Social Security income and blue-collar workers by ending taxes on tips and overtime. Navarro also highlighted that people in Detroit are now producing automobiles due to tax breaks for American-made cars.

Navarro described April 15 as a day previously marked by mourning, where “American families gather around the kitchen table and they hold a wake for about 25% to 30% of the income they have to give to Uncle Sam every year.” He added that by simplifying filing and delivering refunds, Americans are now receiving money back.

“I’m hoping that as we talk more and more about this, the ‘big beautiful bill’ will get the kind of love in the polling that it should get,” Navarro said.
